Oh Yeon-seo, Jung Woo in talks to lead new romance drama ‘Crazy Person in the Area’ | Kdramapal

KakaoTV’s upcoming romantic series Crazy Person in the Area (literal title) has sent out lead-role offers to stars Oh Yeon-seo and Jung Woo.

On November 6, an official from the drama industry told Korean news outlets, “Oh Yeon-seo and Jung Woo have [been chosen] to become the main characters of KakaoTV’s original drama Crazy Person in the Area.” In response, the video streaming platform confirmed that they have indeed given proposals to both the actors but made no comment on whether or not the two have already made their respective decisions.

Crazy Person in the Area will follow one emotional rollercoaster of a relationship between a man and a woman who both went through terrible, life-changing experiences in the past. Although they are struggling with their own heartaches and have no intention to dive deep into each other’s wounds, their growing feelings inevitably bring them closer together, so they choose to make the jump despite the fear of only getting hurt again.

Oh Yeon-seo is being courted to portray Lee Min-kyung. Due to a traumatizing incident, she turns into a seemingly insane woman who is trapped in a self-inflicted emotional and mental prison of obsessions and delusions. Best known for her skillful acting in the television series Come Back Mister (2016), My Sassy Girl (2017), A Korean Odyssey (2017–2018), and most recently, Love With Flaws (2019–2020), Oh is predicted to render another amazing portrayal should she push through with taking the new project.

Meanwhile, Jung Woo is being tapped to play Noh Hwi-oh, a detective at the Gangnam Police Station who never lets any of his cases go unsolved. He is highly competent in his job. However, he tends to get overly consumed by an uncontrollable urge to catch criminals. Jung Woo previously made lasting impressions for his performances in Like a Dandelion (2010), You Are the Best (2013), and Reply 1994 (2013). If he accepts the role of Noh Hwi-oh, Jung Woo will be making his much-awaited comeback to the small screen after his cameo appearance in Reply 1988 four years ago.

Crazy Person in the Area will be helmed by Lee Tae-gon, director of the two-season youth series Hello, My Twenties! (2016, 2017) and Diary of a Prosecutor (2019–2020). The web drama is slated for release in the first half of 2021.
