Video Marketing Tips – Video Editing Software

One of the more frightening things about getting started in video marketing is when you begin to realize all the considerations you must make. From concept to strategy, equipment, and technology, there is much to consider. But if you focus on keeping things simple, you can at least get started on the right track.

In our last video, we looked at some of the equipment and accessories you’ll need to get started with making videos, including lighting considerations. From selfie sticks to stabilizers, smartphones, and other accessories, as you venture down the path of video marketing, these ancillaries will become increasingly important.

Video Editing Software

Another equipment consideration is how you will edit your videos. Starting simple is easy enough to do with equipment and accessories, and that holds true for video editing software as well. And although the software available changes quickly, there are some fundamental aspects to editing video that remain constant as well.

In the video below, we feature a brief segment of my conversation with Flick Fusion COO Tim James during our conversation as part of the Video Marketing for Auto Retailers webinar series.

Premium Video Editing Software

Choosing a piece of software is a whole lot easier when you are realistic about what you can do and what you’d like to produce.  Adobe Premiere Pro, for example, is hands down the best, most robust software available in my opinion.  You can do anything with it and the tools make it possible to create epic pieces of video.

It also costs $240 per year, or about $30 per month if you subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud.

Don’t let Adobe’s price tag scare you, though.  As we said, that’s a top-of-the-line option that remains constantly updated and has periodic releases and support.  The marketplace has plenty of other options to choose from. Others include Final Cut Pro and Pinnacle Studio Ultimate.

Freeware

Other alternatives include free video editing software, or freeware, which offers novice users a great way to get acquainted with the video editing process and begin learning some of the basics. Depending on the the types of videos you need to make, you may or may not grow out of the scope of capabilities available with freeware, but it doesn’t hurt to start with freeware if editing video is completely new for you.

There are some great free options when it comes to free video editing software. Here are some ideas for on TomsGuide.com: Best Free Video Editing Software 2019.

Online Paid Platforms

Many programs are now being offered as streaming online services.  This approach ensures users have the most up to date version of the software without having to deal with updating on their own computer.  On the other hand, since the software is hosted online, users who want to work while traveling or in areas without WiFi may find it too limiting.

Downloadable Apps

Finally there are good old-fashioned downloadable programs.  Options here run the gamut from the video editing software preloaded on many machines (iMovie for Mac users and Microsoft Story Remix for Windows) to software that can easily run to $1,000 or more.  Since software is developed and released fairly often, it’s a good idea to check out reviews on websites like PCMag, which puts out lists comparing various programs on a regular basis.
