What would you say is unique and/or challenging about the Richmond SEO industry?

“I wouldn’t use the word ‘challenging’, but I find it rather intriguing that for a mid-sized city we experience so much competition in marketing and SEO. It’s encouraging and fulfilling to be associated with so many local brands who trust us to help them attain and maintain a credible online presence. Also, Richmond is full of things to do, and we often experience a fair amount of tourists. These tourists are always Googling for things to do near them, and this makes SEO even more interesting.”

How does your agency stand out in a crowded market?

“Although we love digital marketing as a whole, our forte lies in local SEO. Being from Richmond, we know the heart of the city and, therefore, we know the correct practices that will get local audiences’ attention. We’re always evolving to make sure we don’t end up being a needle in the haystack, so our own SEO drives customers for us in the same way our customers expect us to drive customers to them. This is why we’re obsessed with curating custom digital marketing solutions for all our clients based on their business goals.”

Can you share a success story from a local SEO campaign centered around your area?

“A dental clinic approached us with the goal of boosting its online presence. We help them gain a ton of patients from organic alone – 95.07 percent of the targeted keywords are ranking on the first page of Google search engine results pages (SERPs), and a total of 127 keywords are ranking in the Google Local Pack.”

What is the best advice you ever received in business?

“KISS – keep it simple, stupid. In a complex environment and process, it’s important to simplify for all parties involved. The business needs to understand the solutions simply, and their customers need to understand their value proposition simply. It’s also the hardest thing to do, but will achieve the biggest impact.”

What do you think is the most important quality that makes an SEO agency truly great?

“I think the best quality in an agency should be transparency. An agency needs to be 100 percent honest and transparent with their customers. Be it success or failure, an agency must keep its clients in the loop of whatever is happening. Another thing would be to keep clients as a priority. It is vital to put your clients’ needs first and go the extra mile to meet them.”

Any predictions for the future of SEO?

“We are going to notice a hike in businesses opting for mobile optimization as the majority of users continue to browse via their smartphones. Also, Google is becoming more aggressive with snippets. As of now, when you browse a query, you’d only come across one snippet, but this will change soon. Agencies need to up their SEO game in order to earn organic clicks.”

What is your reaction when you hear that “SEO is dying”?

“I feel this is about perspective. I feel that SEO can never go out of the picture unless people all over the world stop using the internet and we go back to the barter system era. Google needs to deliver the best answer to each query, which relies on the best content from companies to answer that question. In turn, if the end-user receives the best answer, then Google earns trust. This feedback loop is imperative and you can’t pay your way to a better answer to a query. This simple principle keeps SEO alive.”

What do you think is the most important contributor to keeping clients happy?

“As I said before, transparency and putting your customers first is the key to keeping them happy.”
