SEO: The Importance of Links | REDFOX VISUAL

Link building can be one of the most important things that you can do to improve your search ranking (SEO). Links show Google that your site is trustworthy because links are a signal that your site is a quality resource worthy of citation. Therefore, sites with more backlinks tend to earn higher rankings.

There is an easy way, buying links, and there is a hard way, building links. Guess which one is more beneficial in the long run? You guessed it—building links.

A link from a trusted website like the New York Times will have a more significant impact on your rankings rather than a link from a smaller website. Like I mentioned before, these types of links are harder to come by.

Follow along, and I will show you how to build quality links that improve your organic rankings.

What is the correlation between backlinks and SEO?

Google says:

“In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages.”

Google said it, not me.

Links can be the factor that ranks you higher than your competitors.

The most important concept to understand is that you’re more likely to have your content rank higher for your target keywords if you can get other websites to link to your pages.

How do I get sites to link to me?

Check these strategies out:

Create cool content – Create content that people will naturally want to reference, link to, comment on, and tell people about it. Making content that excites you will excite someone else.

Influencers – Putting your product or service in front of influencers. I know I’ve talked about influencers before, but they are obviously “influential.” Having someone with a popular blog or a large social media following is a great way to build your backlink profile.

Ask your friends – Ask your friends, family, and coworkers if they wouldn’t mind linking to your website. But that does sound a little too easy, so make sure your friends or family’s webpage is relevant to your niche or industry.

This takes time, okay. This isn’t an overnight process. You may want to pull out your hair, but the results will be worth it, I promise.

Internal link building

Internal linking is linking to your own website’s pages. This is fun, easy, and free.

Here are some ways how.

Anchor Text – this method is essential because it builds your linking profile and allows you to target keywords simultaneously. Anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink. Anchor text should be relevant to the page you’re linking to, rather than generic text. A prime example of anchor text for REDFOX VISUAL would be the best web design company because 1. It targets a keyword phrase and 2. it’s true.

Make sure it’s a quality linking page – The quality of the page that is sending the link is just as important as having an internal link. Search engines want links from trusted pages to count more in boosting rankings than iffy pages.

Maybe link to something other than the homepage – Yeah, it’s cool to link to the homepage once in a while, but your other pages need some love too. You want more than your homepage ranking on search engines, right?

So how do you go about building these excellent internal links?

Follow these steps:

Keyword Research – Do some research on what keywords you should be targeting: keywords that have been successful for you, keywords your competitors use, and maybe keywords you should rank higher for.

Map out your content – Figure out the best, most natural places to put internal links.

Link Pages those pages – The final step, inter-linking. You’ve done the keyword research; you’ve mapped out the content, now begin inter-linking.

Well, that was fun.
