Look no further.

In this review, we’ll introduce SE Ranking, show you some of its powerful SEO tools and reports, and explain its flexible pricing plans.

Ready? Let’s start!

What is SE Ranking?

SE Ranking is an all-in-one cloud-based SEO and digital marketing platform for business owners, SEO pros, digital agencies, and large-scale enterprises. It’s used by over 400,000 users, including brands such as Zapier and Trustpilot.

As its name implies, SE Ranking started life as a rank tracking tool. But over the years, the platform has grown into a complete set of tools for keyword research, competitor analysis, comprehensive site audits, keyword ranking, backlink monitoring, automated white-label reporting, and much more.

SE Ranking: Main tools

Let’s take a look at some of the main tools that make SE Ranking so attractive and easy to use.

Once you’ve logged into your account, the first thing you’ll need to do is create a new project by clicking the green “Create Project” button:

Projects help to keep everything contained in one place. For example, if you have a few websites or you’re managing a few client sites, you could group them together in one project.

In the project settings, you go through a series of steps to set everything up.

General information: Enter the website URL, domain type, and project name, select the group name, search range (top 100 or 200), and project access, and then enable the weekly report and site audit.

Keywords: Track the ranking positions for all the keywords you’re interested in, either adding them manually, importing them from Google Analytics, or uploading a CSV/XLS file.

Search engines: Select the search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing, YouTube, or Yandex), country, location (down to postal code level), and language of the keywords you want to track. You can also include Google Maps results and Google Ad rankings if you wish.

Competitors: You can add up to 5 competitors to a project and track their ranking position changes (against your keywords) in comparison to your site. You can add your competitors manually or use the auto suggest function.

Stats & Analytics: The final setting allows you to link your Google Analytics and Search Console accounts to SE Ranking for a more in-depth analysis of search queries and website traffic.

Note: You can make changes to these project settings at any time.

Keyword Rank Tracker

The Keyword Rank Tracker gives you the real-time ranking positions of your selected keywords in Google, Bing, Yahoo, YouTube, or Yandex search engines on desktop and mobile.

Bonus feature: The Keyword Rank Tracker lets you have up to 5 variations for every keyword you monitor. For example, if your keyword tracking allowance is 250 keywords, you could track 250 keyword rankings for Google and Bing, across mobile and desktop, and only get charged for 250 keywords, not 1,000 keywords.

Plus, you can track your rankings on a country, region, city, or postcode level, and monitor for Google Maps.

In the rankings dashboard:

You can check your:

SEO/PPC Competitive Research

The Competitive Research tool lets you uncover the keywords and ads your competitors use in their organic (SEO) and paid (PPC) search campaigns.

Once you’ve entered a competitor’s domain – e.g. beardbrand.com – you get a ton of high-level information with options to drill down further into detailed reports.

At the top of the Overview section, you get a report on the organic and paid keywords, their estimated monthly volume of traffic, and the cost of driving that traffic, plus corresponding trend graphs:

As you scroll down, you see more tables and graphs to help you analyze keywords, competitors, top pages, and subdomains in organic search:

Note: You can click the “View detailed report” button for more information on each report.

Underneath, there are similar tables and graphs for the keywords used in paid search. Plus, there’s an additional table showing the most popular keyword ads, including the ad copy, so you can see what ads are working for your competitors:

The Competitive Research tool lets you discover which keywords any domain or URL ranks for in organic and paid search, learn who you’re going up against in organic and paid search based on common keywords, and find out what your competitors’ paid ads strategy is.

Keyword Research

The Keyword Research tool allows you to enter a keyword – e.g. beard oil – and get its keyword difficulty score, monthly search volume, and cost per click:

Plus a list of similar, related, and low search volume keywords:

And a list of the top-ranking pages in organic and paid search for the analyzed keyword:

Note: You can click the “View detailed report” button for more information on each report.

For example, when you click the “View detailed report” button for more keyword ideas, you get a list of hundreds or thousands of keyword suggestions  grouped by similar, related, or low search volume, plus a snapshot of the current organic SERP:

Website Audit

The Website Audit shows how well your website is optimized for search engines and whether any errors need fixing. It’s essential to have a healthy site before you start promoting content and attracting backlinks.

During the analysis, your site is evaluated against a detailed list of ranking factors. At the end, you get a report with actionable recommendations on how to improve your website.

The audit report provides information on over 70 checked website parameters:

The report breaks the audit into various categories, such as Page analysis and Meta analysis, so you can check and action each area:

In this example, you can see the audit has identified 63 pages with a duplicate title. Clicking on the link icon lists all the pages, which you can then export to a spreadsheet to start your action plan.

You can run the website audit at any time, either manually or scheduled regularly every week or month,  to see what progress you’ve made in fixing the errors and maintaining a healthy site.

Backlink management

There are two tools for analyzing backlinks:

Each backlink is analyzed against 15 parameters:

Backlink Monitoring

The Backlink Monitoring tool lets you add and monitor your website’s backlinks.

You can add the backlinks manually, import them via Search Console, or add them through the Backlink Checker tool.

Once you’ve added your backlinks, you get a quick overview. The graphs show the total number of backlinks and their growth dynamics, how many backlinks were added and lost over the past 3, 6, and 12 months, the ratio of backlinks leading to the homepage and other pages, as well as the ratio of dofollow and nofollow backlinks.

All of the added backlinks can also be analyzed further by clicking on the referring domains, anchors, pages, IPs/subnets, or disavow headings:

You can also choose the type of backlinks you’d like to see, for example, by filtering noindex or nofollow backlinks.

You can mark any suspicious backlinks that you want Google to disavow, and the tool will generate a ready-to-go disavow file.

Backlink Checker

The Backlink Checker tool is perfect for analyzing the backlink profile of any website, including your competitors. You get a detailed report on every backlink, including the domains they originate from and the web pages they link out to. With this data, you can see the full picture of any backlink profile and evaluate the value and quality of each backlink.

Let’s take a look at some of the info:

The overview at the top of the page provides a snapshot of the overall backlink situation:

Each of the panels is clickable, so you can drill down for a more in-depth analysis.

The total referring domains graph shows the total number of referring domains that link out to the analyzed domain/URL:
