Social Media Marketing During Covid-19 — Debbie Roy

If we don’t see the impacts in our businesses, we are seeing friends, family, our favourite local businesses all impacted and touched by this virus. It can be difficult as a business to navigate what is happening and to know whether or not it’s okay to be promoting your business actively.

There is no right or wrong answer here; the fact remains that you can be both compassionate and help your community while still find creative ways to promote your products and services.

It’s okay to feel uncertain when it comes to promoting your services, given everything that is happening around us.

Here are some things that you can do to help your business continue its marketing efforts and pivot if needed.

Answer this question. “How can I serve my community?” If you are able to provide educational resources to your audience, please do. Many people are looking for creative ways to make money from home, homeschool their kids and work from home for the first time; any knowledge that you can share, now is the time.

When was the last time that you nurtured your email list? Send your community an update, let them know what your business is doing, what you did to pivot, and how you are still able to serve them.

Take time to feature your team members. We never need a special occasion to give praise, but now would be a great time for your audience to get to know the faces behind your brand, we’re all in this together, and we all want to feel connected.

Open for business? Share your message loud and clear and let everyone know how you are still able to serve your community and any changes that need to be known.

Want to promote your products and services? Please do, remember that you can be both compassionate and grow your business. Adjust your messaging if needed, but don’t go silent.

This one is not social media related, but if you are an employer, please, please, please make every effort to let your team work from home. You can’t put a price on health.
