5 Social Media Marketing Tips for Your Hotel

Want your hotel or B&B to stand out this summer and beyond? Then, it’s important to make sure that your social media accounts are actively working to bring in new guests, while making your loyal customers feel welcome to come back and stay with you, anytime.
Here are some essential marketing tips to spread word-of-mouth about your hotel to guests as the summer winds down:

1. Post interior and exterior shots

Before booking their stay with you, your guests want to know what the experience will be like at your hotel or B&B. Show them what it’s like on the inside and give them insights into the kinds of views they will experience. If you show them authentically what your business is all about, guests will be more likely to book with you.
Here are some great examples on Facebook from Rosemary Inn Bed & Breakfast and Lake Pointe Inn:

2. Share hotel activities and tips for exploring

On your feed, just posting photos of the inside and outside of your hotel is not enough to keep your followers engaged and attract potential new guests — you need to show them what they will be able to do if they choose to stay at your business. Post travel tips, local insights, and activities guests can partake in at your hotel or B&B. It will get them thinking of all the things they can do while enjoying their stay with you.
In this example, Hotel Breakwater not only uses user-generated content on Instagram, which is a great way to build relationships and garner engagement, but they also let their social media audience know about the free bikes their guests can use to explore the boardwalk and the local neighborhood.
Here’s an example on Twitter of Hotel Arcata letting current and potential guests know what they can explore while staying with them:

3. Utilize seasonal content

A great way to engage and attract both new and loyal guests is to post content about the time of year. In this example from Rose’s Bay Resort, there’s one month of summer left to go, so they’re posting a very summer snack, s’mores, to remind their guests they can enjoy the remaining weeks of summer at their business. They also used a question their caption to get their Twitter followers engaged — asking how guests like their s’mores is a good way to start a conversation.

4. Show off your team

One of the reasons your guests love staying with you is because of the excellent customer service they receive from your team when they stay with you. Use social media as a way to show off your team and remind your fans and followers why they love staying with you.

5. Share your positive reviews

As a hotel owner, you know how important guest reviews are to your business. Cross-promoting your positive reviews across your social channels can help promote your review pages in a compelling way, and it’s a great way to encourage other satisfied guests to write positive reviews.
How can I share reviews? __ The simplest way to share a positive review is by taking a screenshot and posting that to your Facebook and Twitter pages. You can also just cut and paste the text of the review on your social pages with a “Thanks!” to the reviewer. Using sites like Canva to make quick graphics with customer quotes incorporated is another great option. Adding a graphic to your post can increase engagement with your audience across your social media.
