How to Use These FREE Instagram Story Templates and Text Overlay Animations

The video above is a good rundown of how to use .mogrt template files. You can only use these templates in Adobe Premiere Pro, unfortunately, so if you work in a different editor, you’ll need a different solution.

With these free Premiere motion graphics templates, you have certain control and customization options that will allow you to get the look you want. Here are more details about how to install these assets.

Install The .Mogrt Files into Premiere

Install the .mogrt files via the Essential Graphics Panel in Premiere.

In Premiere, make sure you have the “Essential Graphics Panel” open. You’ll most likely need to click on the window tab at the top of the screen and make sure that the Essential Graphics Panel is checked.

Once you’re in the Essential Graphics Panel, look to the bottom-right of the panel, and you should see a little plus sign with a square around it (pictured above).

Once you click that button, you’ll get a file dialogue box you can use to navigate to the template you want to add. Unfortunately, you have to do this process one template at a time instead of adding them all at once. Hopefully Adobe will change that soon.

Customize The Files

After you’ve installed the .mogrt files, you can customize them in the Essential Graphics Panel.

Once you add the templates to your Essential Graphics Panel library, you can now drag and drop these graphics into your sequences.

Once they’re in your sequence, make sure that your sequence is the correct size (especially for Instagram stories, etc.) so everything will fit properly.

You may find that you need to add the template on top of the picture or video that you want to feature in your post. The template has an alpha channel built in, so you’ll just need to drop it on top.

Once you’ve got your template in place, you can now click on the clip of the template in your sequence, and the Essential Graphics Panel will open up a host of options and customization tools based on the template you’ve chosen. Here you can make changes and alterations on each iteration of the clip.

.Mogrts are the way of the future. Enjoy!
