What is SEO

Before we discuss the effective SEO strategies, let us first make a clear definition of SEO and what it does.

SEO is the process of enhancing a website to improve its online visibility for the purpose of making it top relevant searches. The more visible a page is in search results, the higher the chance of getting attention and driving more traffic from the target audience to the business website.

In order to achieve this purpose, an effective SEO strategy is needed to gain more organic traffic.

Basic SEO Strategy Steps

1. Know your client and its target audience.

The first step to come up with the best SEO strategy for your client’s business is getting to know more about their niche and target audience.

First, SEO specialists need to identify the business’ selling points. They need to find out what products or services does it offers to consumers. They also have to determine what makes it unique.

Next, the specialists need to consider the type of customers is the business appealing to. This can be done by understanding the primary audience members that they are targeting.

Here are some of the audience characteristics that SEO specialists need to consider:

Studying the existing audience can also help analyze the exact kind of audience that a business is targeting. To do this, SEO specialists usually create an audience profile to make it easier for them to examine the kind of customers they need to be eyeing.

2. Doing proper keyword research

Keywords are the phrases or words that visitors type into search engines when they want to look for specific content. They are also called search queries.

Keywords are very essential in SEO. To get more traffic to your website, it needs to have content that is searched for by search engine visitors. For this reason, SEO specialists analyze the usual keywords related to the business that users are typing in search engines.

Keywords – Are the phrases that are normally used by searchers to look for answers. | Search Volume is the estimated number of searchers in each specific keyword for a month period. | Trends is the volume of searchers depends on the season because search volume per keywords varies on different factors such us occasion, incident, or current events. For example: “Flowers for Sale – The trends for that in the Philippines will be February and November | CPC or Cost Per Click – It is the estimated cost per click if you run ads in Google Adwords | Competition – Is is how hard is the competition per keyword in a specific target location. High is too competitive and it will definitely require more effort in your SEO campaign.

There are two types of keywords—the broad and the long-tail keywords. Broad keywords normally contain one or two words, and they are the general keywords. On the other hand, long-tail keywords often contain three or more words, and the longer they are, the more specific they become.

Broad, Competetive Keywords and It is not a specific query.

Sample: Condo in Makati

The above query might for the following answers:

Meanwhile, the long tail is for a specific query like this example:

Long tail, easy to rank, and specific query.

Sample: Condo for rent in Makati 10K

This query has the intention to engage and all you need to do is you really have the correct answer on your website. This means you have a Condo for rent within that budget range.

Broad keywords usually get the most traffic. For this reason, new online marketers would often be tempted to target using the keywords. However, if the business they are trying to optimize is only new and does not have a strong online presence yet, then it would be hard to make its website rank in search engines.

SEO specialists understand that broad/short-tail keywords are very competitive, and only the most established brands or websites usually succeed at these. Therefore, it is best to start with long-tail keywords for clients who are only starting with their online marketing journey.

SEO experts are also responsible for guaranteeing that the websites of their clients contain relevant and high-quality content. This way, it will have a higher chance of landing a higher spot in search engines.

Google bases on three facts in measuring the trust that a website or brand has. These factors are Expertise, Authority, and Trust (E-A-T).

Expertise means that the website owners offer products or services that they are deeply knowledgeable about. They should be considered as experts in their fields. In connection to this, these brands need to exhibit authority in their chosen niches. They should be known to be credible or reliable. Of course, the more credibility that a brand has, the more trustworthy it is considered.

Businesses and domains that demonstrate these three factors do not only get promoted in the search engine, but they also get increased purchases and trust from their target audience.

To be able to achieve E-A-T, SEO specialists have to analyze the user intent in a specific field. User or search intent defines the intention or goal of the audience when typing a keyword into the search engine.
