Huawei takes on Microsoft and Google with its own search engine and productivity suite – MSPoweruser

Huawei today announced new web services to take on Microsoft and Google. During its Huawei Mate 40 series launch event, Huawei announced Petal Search, Petal Maps, and HUAWEI Docs. Petal Search will compete with Google search and Bing. Petal Maps will compete with Google Maps and Bing Maps. Huawei Docs will compete with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Petal Search:

Petal Search now is available in over 170 countries and regions and supports over 50 languages. It offers search capabilities across more than 20 categories, including apps, news, videos, images, shopping, flights, and local business. Search results are presented in information cards, as opposed to simple weblinks, to help users get this wealth of useful information instantly with just a few clicks. It also comes with visual and voice search capabilities.

Petal Maps:

Petal Maps will offer positioning services, immersive map displays, place searches, driving navigation and favorite place lists  to users in over 140 countries and regions. It will also support real-time publish transit updates in some major cities. It will make use of technologies such as Super GNSS and image recognition algorithms for better accuracy.

Huawei Docs:

HUAWEI Docs is now available in more than 100 countries and it supports document viewing and editing across over 50 formats including PDF, PPT, and DOC. Similar to Microsoft Office suite, it comes with real-time syncing enabling seamless collaboration.
