February 2021 News Roundup📰: What’s New In SEO & Affiliate Marketing

Welcome to the second News roundup of the year 2021 #️⃣2️⃣ In this issue, I managed not to talk about any Google update 🎉😅👍 February was full of other news that, I hope, will be interesting for you 😀

So in my February news roundup, you’ll read about:

Let’s dive in 🐋

How to Increase Pinterest Engagement in 2021 (Original Data Study)!

If you are doing Pinterest marketing or thinking of getting into it, this post is for you! I loved it because it outlines my exact strategy of getting out of the Pinterest penalty that my 🐪 Website got hit in May 2020:

Got lost in my Camels 🐪, Elephants 🐘, Unicorns 🦄, and other creatures? Read here to find out what the website nicknames mean!

How To Find LOTS Of EASY Affiliate Keywords & Niches [New Tactic]

We all want to find easy niches and keywords, right? But alas it’s not easy to do 😭 However, Gael found a cool way 🤩 This approach works in case you want to create a new website or find new ideas for an existing one.

When I read the post, I thought: “Wow it’s soo easy 🤯 Why didn’t I think about it myself?” Well, frankly speaking, I did use approach #4 but for the rest, it did not cross my mind 😒

It’s because not all the cool ideas are easy to spot 🤷‍♀️ That’s why we are reading blogs of others 😉 Check out this golden nugget – and you are welcome 😆

Now, let’s read about another unorthodox strategy for finding keywords.

Finding Keyword Opportunities Without Historical Data

In this article, Imogen from Moz shows us three ways to find new keywords without using historical data that regular keyword tools usually rely on.

She explains how to do it and why you may want to use these approaches rather than the traditional ones.

It’s a good read that gives some food for thought 🧠👍

Writing good content for low-competition keywords is a great way to grow your website but it’s not the only way. Let’s look at another method, which can be very efficient.

Authority Site Strategy Using Multiple Expired Domains

Using redirects from expired domains to boost a website is not a new strategy, not at all. However, as usual, the devil is in detail 😈 and the working strategy has been changing year after year.

Apparently, this approach still works well and this post explains how to do it safely these days 👍

The strategy is being used by such an authority in the SEO domain as Matt Diggity. He has applied it in his last project and now, he’s sharing the results with us 😍

Project Cashflow Month Three: Unconventional Link Building

If you have not yet been following this project, I highly recommend starting now! Matt and his team posting monthly updates about how they improve a newly acquired affiliate website.

In this particular update, you will read about:

I loved it because it’s an honest report without any sugar-coating 🤗 This is what I need these days! My (not so) newly acquired 🦄 Website is not feeling well and it helps to see that everybody can have periods of struggle – even the seasoned SEO masters! 😅

Now, let’s switch to the latest changes in the tool we all use: Google Analytics.

It’s Here: GA4 FAQs and Guidelines

In October 2020, Google announced a completely new version of Google Analytics, GA4 🤩 As the article points out: “It’s not an option, an addendum, or a different platform – this is the new Google Analytics.”

Now, GA4 has finally got available for us regular GA users 🤗

How’s GA4 different from regular Google Analytics? How would you benefit from the new version? Should you avoid switching to GA4? 🤔 The article gives answers to all these questions and more.

If you want to know more about how GA4 differs from the regular GA, check also this: GA4: the future of Google Analytics.

And if you want to test it out first, move to the next item in my News roundup 😉

How To Use The GA4 Demo Account

Apparently, Google decided to create “a GA4 Demo Property to help users explore the new capabilities and test out answering key business questions using GA4 sample data” 😮 (the emphasis is mine).

This article explores it in detail thus showing how to use GA4 based on a specific example of data.

Now, how’s Australia doing? Remember, I wrote in my January news report that Google threatens to shut down the search in Australia? There has been a development!

Google To Facebook: Australian Publishers Choose To Appear In Google Search

The development has occurred on the Facebook side, though. Facebook is in the same boat with Google here and they decided to pull the plug 😕

Google has not yet done anything so we all are eagerly waiting for their response.

Meanwhile, other countries are getting encouraged by the Australian example 😮

The EU Looks Set To Follow Australia’s Lead By Demanding Google And Facebook Pay For News Articles

And this is how the example of Australia can expand outside of the continent of kangaroo 🌎🦘First, the EU, then I bet that California will follow 😱 Or not… 🤷‍♀️

In any case, I am happy to see that content creators are making Google play by their rules ✊ Because, with all the rich results and other search enhancements, Google steals our traffic 😒
