5 Must Dos With a SEMRush SEO Marketing Membership | PPC.org

Although some of us have a good idea of what works and what does not work in the big online world, nothing beats the data that search engine marketing tools can provide, to definitively say what and what does not work. One such tool is SEMRush.

The great thing about SEMRush is that it has so much that it offers. However, this can also be seen as a drawback. For anyone new to search engine optimization, understanding and finding the tools to use in SEMRush can seem quite daunting at first.

With this in mind, here are 5 must-dos for anyone looking to improve their website when using SEMRush.

#1 Site Audit

The site audit crawls through your whole website, and find any sort of issues you have with HTTP errors, SEO errors, and more.

It’s a great idea, for this reason, to run a site audit, depending on the size of your website and membership that you can afford, around once a week. This will make sure your website is running in tip-top condition on the whole.

#2 Domain Overview

I use domain overview, along with organic research, more than any other tool on SEMRush. Domain overview allows you to see what are your best articles, what your organic traffic trend is looking like, how you rank for terms, competitors, and much more. If you have been concentrating on SEO for a month or so, I tend to use domain overview to see, on a high level, the impact this can have to the whole site.

#3 Organic Research

Organic research is a great tool that shows how the ranking of your pages changes over time. Each and every one of your pages is tracked for keywords over time. Here, you can see what articles have improved/declined in rank for certain keywords, and the general trend your website takes. For example, how does your positions change for different countries, and desktop vs mobile?

#4 Position Tracking

Position tracking allows you to track specific pages on your website for organic keywords, to see how they change, in-depth with other data, over time. This is particularly useful if you are testing new SEO methods to improve ranking. For example, I have used position tracking to see how images affect SEO, length of content, headings, Yoast readability/traffic light system, as well as even using emojis in the SEO meta title.

#5 Keyword Magic Tool

The keyword magic tool allows a user to see what people are searching for in Google, and by how much: it’s as simple as that!

For this reason, if you know a generalized topic you want to talk about, you can see what gains traffic, and what keyword search phrase has the lowest competition too, so you can target high traffic/low competition keywords, to increase your organic traffic.
